Safety

Offshore windfarms and subsea cables are increasing in number around the shores of the UK and the potential risks to fishermen, associated with these structures, need to be recognised and managed in a responsible way.

To enable fishermen to continue to work safely in the vicinity of subsea cables and offshore wind farms, this website aims to explain in detail, the type of equipment fishermen may encounter, the dangers associated with them and safety advice in the event of an emergency.

The following safety sections explain the risks and emergency proceadures relating to these industries.

Please also ensure you have the latest KIS-ORCA data for your fishing plotter system and are familiar with the awareness chart for your fishing area. These may be downloaded from here.
