Dropped Object - Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm



The dropped object occurred at NNG windfarm, and was the middle section of the crew transfer vessel (CTV), Forth Engineer, fender located on the bow end of the CTV. The mass of the object is 250 kilograms. It is estimated the dropped object has sunk to the seabed. As it is near the wind turbine generator H13, the object will be adjacent to the monopile/structure of the WTG H13.


The dropped object occurred at NNG windfarm, and  was the middle section of the crew transfer vessel (CTV), Forth Engineer, fender located on the bow end of the CTV. Whilst the CTV was ‘pushing off’ the wind turbine generator H13, after technicians had vacated it, the fender became loose from the CTV dropping into the sea.  The plan surrounding the dropped object has yet to be finalised. Once finalised-this will be communicated without delay.  It is anticipated the object has sunk to the seabed based on accounts from the CTV operating crew. Risks and dangers to other sea users for navigation is estimated to be low due to the mass being 250 kilograms.

Please refer to Figure 1 - Figure 2 that highlights each cable location. Given the different conditions and water depths anticipated at each site, a range of vessels will be available for the project, detailed overleaf. The inspection works will be centred on a 50m cable corridor, defined by the start and end coordinates listed in Table 1.

Major Component Exchange - Moray West Offshore Wind Farm



This is to inform mariners of planned maintenance activities within the Moray Offshore Windfarm (West) Limited (Moray West) Offshore Wind Farm. Works are planned to commence on or after 23 August 2026, with the exact start date dependent on weather and operational conditions. Once underway, the operation is expected to take approximately three days to complete.

Offshore Construction of the Dogger Bank B Offshore Wind Farm commenced on the 21st of April 2023 with the installation of the OSP jacket foundation. This notice will be updated weekly, giving information on the progress and resources involved in the offshore project. The intention is to give an overview of activities and vessels involved. Should anyone have questions regarding the operations, we kindly ask you to put them forward well in advance.


Construction Support Activities

The Offshore Construction Support Vessels IWS Skywalker and Grampian Tees, will continue with ongoing construction support activities within Dogger Bank B construction site.

Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Installation

he Jack-up WTG Installation Vessel, Voltaire, will continue installation of wind  turbine generators (WTG) within the Dogger Bank B construction area. The works commencing in February 2026, and will be continuous, 24 hours a day, for the duration of the WTG installations

During operations,all vessels will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre as defined under COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972) and will display the appropriate day shapes and lights. The vessels will also transmit an Automatic Identification System (AIS) message.

Nearshore Geotechnical Survey - Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm



Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm will undertake Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) and borehole sampling within the nearshore waters of the Offshore Export Cable Corridor (OECC).


This work will be undertaken by a Jack-Up Barge (JUB) and will remain stationary at each location for up to 48 hours. A Multicat will only be present on site to assist the JUB maneourves as required.

A CTV will transit from Whitehills daily.

Please be advised that Jan De Nul Luxembourg S.A. shall be undertaking power cable installation and power cable protection activities for the Skye-Uist Replacement project. Subject to the granting of the necessary licences, the project will install two new subsea power cables. One between Loch Pooltiel on the Isle of Skye and Loch Carnan on the Isle of South Uist and the other one between Ardmore on Isle of Skye and Loch Pooltiel on Isle of Skye.

This notice supersedes the earlier Notice to Mariners dated 03/07/2026 and includes an updated FLO contact.

The works will be carried out by several vessels which are listed further in this NtM.

Route Survey - Sanday to North Ronaldsay



Survey Activities: XOCEAN is planning the collection of geophysical data along a proposed cable route corridor in Orkney, from the islands of Sanday to North Ronaldsay.


Survey Activities: XOCEAN is planning the collection of geophysical data along a proposed cable route corridor in Orkney, from the islands of Sanday to North Ronaldsay. The vessel, DEEP Atlas, is expected to operate out of Kirkwall for mobilisation and the North Ronaldsay area for survey activity. The vessel will pull towed sensors (SideScan Sonar & Magnetometer) through the water in proximity of the seabed.  Dates/Duration: Operations commenced on 14 July 2026. It is expected that the survey activities shall be completed by 25th July 2026 (subject to weather). Survey Area: Figure 1 below indicates the operational area in red. This is outlined in Table 1 below also.

Reef Enhancement for Scour Protection (RESP) Surveys - Rampion Offshore Wind Farm



As part of the Reef Enhancement for Scour Protection (RESP) project, ARC marine will be conducting post installation surveys at 7 turbine locations within the windfarm.


Scope of works: 

As part of the Reef Enhancement for Scour Protection (RESP) project, ARC marine will be conducting post installation surveys at 7 turbine locations within the windfarm. Subject to weather windows, operations are expected to start on the 20th of July 2026, completing after 13 successful days at sea, no later than the 22nd of August 2026. Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV): A total of 36 BRUV samples shall be collected at all 7 turbine locations (Figure 1) within Rampion OWF, see Appendix A for coordinates.  

Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) / Drop Down Camera (DDC) 

A total of 320 still images of the seafloor shall be captured during 1-2 transect surveys at each of the 7 sampling turbines (Figure 1), all within Rampion OWF, to a maximum radius of 120m from each turbine. See Appendix A for coordinates. Equipment shall remain tethered to the vessel and will extend no further than 100m radius from the vessel at any time. Equipment is sensitive to any in water obstacles/ entanglement risks. Sediment Grab sampling 

A total of 48 sediment grabs shall be collected at the 7 sampling locations (Figure 1) within Rampion OWF. See Appendix A for coordinates. 

Water Sampling

A total of 15 water samples shall be collected from circa. 3m from the seafloor at the 7 turbine locations (Figure 1) within Rampion OWF. Equipment will be tethered to the vessel and will extend no further than 5m radius from the vessel at any time. See Appendix A for coordinates.  

Fishing gear It is kindly requested that any fishing gear is removed from the sampling locations to ensure efficient sampling and minimise impact to operations of all stakeholders in the area. Once works are completed, a follow-up NTM shall be issued to restart normal operations.  

Safe distance  It is kindly requested that all non-survey operations maintain a safe distance of at least 300 meters from all survey turbine locations until the survey concludes (Appendix A), as communicated through proper channels. This is to ensure that all assets and marine users are safe and able to complete the necessary works.

UXO, Archaeology & Geophysical Marine Surveys - Eastern Green Link 2 & Eastern Green Link 3



Mariners are advised that Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL 2) and Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL 3) projects are conducting UXO, Archaeology (EGL 3) and Geophysical (EGL 2) Marine Surveys within the offshore Peterhead area. The marine survey activities are planned to commence in this area with EGL 2 vessel on the 18th June 2026 and EGL 3 vessel on 27th June 2026. Operations are now complete with EGL 2 vessel and are expected to complete with EGL3 vessel around 27th July 2026.


EGL 3 survey equipment will consist of MBES, SSS, USBL, Mag, ROTV and UXO surrogate testing which will be placed on the seabed a maximum of three times in the nearshore area for equipment verification tests.

SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) are working together to address the need for increased capacity within the transmission network between Scotland and England.

The EGL 3 UXO marine survey works are being carried out by GeoXYZ Limited.

General Safety Advice  The vessel will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre and will display the appropriate lights and shapes prescribed by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea. Other vessels are requested to provide a minimum clearance of 500m from the survey vessel during marine operations and pass at a safe speed. Regular Security Messages will be issued on VHF Channel 16 and this Channel will be always monitored by the vessel. The vessel will also transmit regular Automatic Transmission Identification System (AIS) Messages.

Legal Notice  Please be advised that this Notice to Mariners should be treated as official notice of the nature, duration and location of the works which are scheduled to take place. During the period of this notice, we request that you plan your activities around our short-term, temporary activities. Any failure to remove equipment or entry into the identified location in a manner that would constitute a hazard would be a breach of your duties of safe seamanship as described in the Convention on International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 and/or the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 and may result in removal of the relevant equipment.

Geophysical Survey - Berwick Bank



Mariners are advised that Berwick Bank Wind Farm Limited (BBWFL) will be returning to the Berwick Bank Wind Farm Area to undertake further geophysical survey work.


Overview

The survey will focus upon the southern half of the wind farm area, with an additional survey in the north too.  Because towed equipment will be deployed, please note that BBWFL are engaging with static gear fishers where fishing gear has potential to obstruct the survey.  

Within the Notice to Mariners PDF Attachement, Figure 1 displays the Mariner Cautionary Area for all marine traffic, with respective co-ordinates listed in Table 1.  

Figure 2 displays the locations where fishing gear is to be removed from; any fishers observed to be fishing within this area have been contacted with respect to gear removal where necessary.  A guard vessel will be present to work alongside the survey vessel.  An offshore fisheries liaison officer (OFLO) will be on the survey vessel.  

The survey work is being undertaken by TGS and will be conducted by the Ramform Vanguard vessel.  Vessels will arrive on site from 24th July 2026 at the earliest. The scouting/guard vessel will be the GV Reaper WK83 to start, with the exact schedule to be confirmed through further notices as required.   

Survey Duration  

The survey is anticipated to take approximately 2 weeks. To account for all eventualities including weather delays, we would like to extend the duration of notice validity to 31 August 2026.

Cable Survey - Ardmore-Skye and Flodabay-Harris



XOCEAN is planning the collection of geophysical data using remotely piloted Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) along the cable route between Ardmore-Skye and Flodabay-Harris.


Survey Activities: XOCEAN is planning the collection of geophysical data using remotely piloted Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) along the cable route between Ardmore-Skye and Flodabay-Harris. The USVs are expected to operate out of Tarbert for the full survey duration. A mix of USVs with both hull mounted survey sensors (Multibeam Echosounders & Sub-Bottom Profilers) and also towed sensors (SideScan Sonar & Magnetometer) through the water in proximity of the seabed will be used. A crewed Support Vessel will be chartered throughout the survey to support the USVs with departures and arrivals from Tarbert and assist in towing them back in if a technical issue occurs. 

Dates/Duration: Operations commence in 8th July 2026. It is expected that the survey activities shall run for approximately 30 days, subject to weather. 

Survey Area: Figure 1 below indicates the operational area including a 500m buffer from the survey corridor. Coordinates delineating the area are in Table 1 below also. If mariners believe our operations will interact with their activities then they should get in touch via the FIR/ FLO.

Survey Campaign - Shetlands HVDC Link 2 LT374



Mariners are advised that a marine cable route survey is planned for the proposed Shetland Link 2 cable. The survey will involve geophysical, geotechnical and benthic surveying. SSEN Transmission conduct marine surveys to gain information on seabed morphology, installation design, sediment structure and to gain benthic characterisation and habitat mapping. Update 10 June 2026: This NtM has been updated to include a survey into Minn Islesburgh, as well as a corridor extension east of Fairisle.


Reach Subsea UK LTD are conducting an offshore survey campaign, and X-Oceans are conducting a nearshore survey campaign, on behalf of Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Plc. Trading as Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks Transmission (SSENT). SSEN Transmission plan to commence the marine survey inside 12nm on 28th March 2026.  The survey equipment will consist of Multi Beam Echo Sounder (MBES), Side Scan Sonar (SSS), Sub-Bottom Profiler (SBP), Magnetometer, Benthic grabs, Vibrocores and Core Penetration Tests across 2 different vessels. The nearshore geophysical survey vessels (USVs) will be operating within 15m LAT and out to >30m LAT, working as close to shore as possible. The survey equipment will also require calibration testing, which may be conducted outwith the survey corridor.

Orange-D IAC Cable replacement - Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm



Mariners are advised that Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm Limited (NnGOWL) has completed the replacement of the Orange-D inter-array cable (IAC). The burial of the Orange-D IAC is due to take place in August 2026. Due to vessel availability, following the replacement of the Orange-D cable it is expected that cable burial will take place in August 2026. While the IAC cable is unburied a guard vessel is present onsite 24/7 with an OFLO onboard to alert


Mariners are advised that Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm Limited (NnGOWL) has completed the replacement of the Orange-D inter-array cable (IAC). The burial of the Orange-D IAC is due to take place in August 2026.  The replacement of one IAC (Orange-D) took place in May 2026 via the Viking Neptun (call sign: LAYH7). The Viking Neptun mobilised in Hartlepool on the 6th of May and commenced cable replacement works onsite from the 10th of May. The installation of the replacement cable was completed on the 19th of May and the Viking Neptun (call sign: LAYH7) has demobilised from the site. Due to vessel availability, following the replacement of the Orange-D cable it is expected that cable burial will take place in August 2026. While the IAC cable is unburied a guard vessel is present onsite 24/7 with an OFLO onboard to alert mariners of the seabed hazard. Further guard vessel details can be found in the general safety advice section below.  Testing and termination (T&T) works on the Orange-D IAC are complete. All works are now complete and the OEG Endurance (call sign: MIDM7) has left the site.  Area of Operations Mariners are advised that all vessels in this campaign will be working within the boundaries of the Neart na Gaoithe Offshore Wind Farm, shown in Figure 1 within the coordinates shown in Table 1. All vessels are requested to remain at least 500 meters away from all the work vessels and static fishing gear is requested to be removed from the exclusion area shown in Figure 1 and Table 1. Vessels over 15m are requested to have AIS turned on and detectable when in the vicinity of construction works. Vessels are requested to contact the Guard Vessel (details provided below) prior to entering the site to confirm current safety zones in place, and to ensure that the NnG Control Room can be made aware of your presence on site.

Array Area Geophysical Survey - Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm



Please be advised that Fugro will be conducting a geophysical survey within the Caledonia Offshore Wind Farm Array Area with the vessel expected on site no earlier than the 19th July 2026. The current anticipated completion date is the 5th August 2026.


The survey aims to confirm risk of Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) is As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). As this survey relates to the potential location of wind turbines, no survey operations will occur within the Structure Exclusion Zone (SEZ) in the south east of the site (please see map in attached NtM).

Please note, a geotechnical survey will be ongoing within the Array Area for the duration of this geophysical survey. This scope is also being undertaken by Fugro, and there is a seperate notice on Kingfisher containing further details.

Geotechnical Survey - Western Link 2



GEOxyz and Causeway Geotech will be completing offshore and nearshore geotechnical surveys respectively on the 13/07/2026 between the Firth of Clyde, Scotland and Caernarfon Bay, Wales.


The marine survey activities for Western Link 2 will commence on the 13/07/2026 and includes geotechnical survey work in the survey corridor, from the Firth of Clyde at the northern end, through the North Channel, into the Irish Sea, and landing at Caernarfon Bay at the southern end. The offshore work will be undertaken by survey vessel Geo Ocean VI and the nearshore work will be undertaken by the jack-up barge Causeway Giant 1. The work will consist of a geotechnical survey to collect high-quality geotechnical data through seabed cone penetration and vibrocoring, and nearshore ground investigation work at borehole locations. 

There will be two landfalls in Ayrshire, Scotland, and one landfall in Caernarfon Bay, Wales.

Inter Array Cable Installation Operations



Inch Cape shall commence inter array cable installation activities.


On behalf of Inch Cape, N-Sea will commence inter array cable installation activities. Cabling will be laid and pulled into the offshore sub station platform and foundation structures as shown in the attached Nptice to Mariners.

The service operations vessel Olympic Taurus will transfer cable preparation and pull in teams to the offshore platform and foundation structures utilising it’s walk to work system, Olympic Taurus is expected to arrive at the work site on or around the 17th of July.

Inter array cables will be surface laid and pulled into the sub station and foundations from the cable lay vessel Altera which is expected to arrive at Inch Cape on or around the 31st of July.

Operations shall be supported by the crew transfer vessel MCS Pampero.

Cable installation operations are expected to continue for several months.

Mariners are advised that a marine cable operational survey is planned for the Shetland HVDC Link 1 cable. SSEN Transmission has a requirement to complete surveys of operational assets periodically and the marine survey activities for the Shetland HVDC Link 1 are scheduled to commence on the 26th of June 2026. The survey works will be carried out by XOCEAN on behalf of SSEN Transmission and are expected to take approximately 5 days to complete, subject to weather conditions.


Marine Cable Route Survey Operations 

Mariners are advised that a marine cable operational survey is planned for the Shetland HVDC Link 1 cable. SSEN Transmission has a requirement to complete surveys of operational assets periodically and the marine survey activities for the Shetland HVDC Link 1 are scheduled to commence on the 26th of June 2026.  

The survey works will be carried out by XOCEAN on behalf of SSEN Transmission and are expected to take approximately 5 days to complete, subject to weather conditions. 

The survey vessels will consist of 2 x USVs utilising hull-mounted MBES, and towed SSS. A small vessel to support operations will be utilised at infrequent intervals. There is no requirement for fishing gear to be cleared from the area during the operations.

Release of Juvenile Lobsters on Dogger Bank C Export Cable Route



On behalf of Dogger Bank Windfarm, The Whitby Lobster Hatchery are releasing Juvenile Lobsters at a location around the KP6 point on the Dogger Bank C Export cable and conducting eDNA sampling


The Offshore Service Vessel Norside Cygnus, will carry out the works and will be on station for approximately 1-2 hours. During the operation, the Norside Cygnus will be restricted in her ability to manoeuvre and it is requested that vessels maintain a minimum 500m safety separation.

Update to previously issued Kingfisher Bulletin, covering UXO Disposal, Boulder Clearance and Out of Service Cable Removal scopes within the East Anglia 2 OWF/ECR/CDM/DCOL


OEG has returned to the EA2 Windfarm Development Consent Order Limits with the Northern Victoria vessel and is carrying out the the following scopes:-

Explosive Ordnance Disposals (EOD)

There is a total of 3 confirmed UXO's remaining that are being disposed of using Low Order Deflagration techniques during June, July & August. No High Order disposals will be carried out. Security broadcasts are being made at requisite times ahead of disposal activities to all vessels in the area to keep clear of the UXO Disposal site.

Green Volt Offshore Windfarm Ltd will be carrying out a series of environmental and Geophysical survey within the nearshore area of the Green Volt export cable corridor, in the vicinity of the landfall location at St Fergus South beach.

These surveys are being undertaken to gather data and gain a better understanding of seabed conditions, which will play a key role in informing the detailed design. The surveys will be carried out by Spectrum 1 and Spectrum Nyquist. Mobilisation is planned for 20th July 2026 and is expected to be on location for approximately seven weeks, weather permitting. The surveys are subject to weather conditions; therefore dates may be subject to change. 

A minimum exclusion distance of 500 metres should be maintained around the survey vessels whilst survey operations are underway due to towed equipment.

Post Lay Burial and Protection - NeuConnect C3



Post-lay burial protection operations are still ongoing. C3 remedial and burial works are to take place on the 11th June 2026 until the 24th July 2026. These dates are subject to change due to weather or operational requirements. The 'Seiont A' guard vessel has relieved the 'Devotion' guard vessel from the C1 area. The 'Devotion' is now in the C2 area. More information is attached in the Notice to Mariners.


Campaign 3 post-lay burial works will commence from KP200-EEZ from 11th June 2026 to 16th July 2026. Post-work surveys will also be extended to the EEZ. Demarcation / Met-Ocean Buoys - Sofia Offshore Wind Farm



All Mariners are advised that circa. 17th July 2026 until further notice, Partrac Venterra Ltd shall be utilising the vessel “FCS Vega” for the service works as required on the following demarcation buoys and Metocean Buoys within the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm Array. Mariners are advised of Seabed Met-Ocean Buoy Moorings that remain in place at SOWF (Excluding Buoy) and are yet to be recovered. Note: these locations are to be avoided by at least 200m.


Vessels shall be monitoring channel VHF 16 and shall be displaying the relevant day shapes / night lights when restricted in its ability to manoeuvre.

Mariners are requested to refrain from entering and transiting through the construction area as demarcated by these demarcation buoys. 

The table below provides a summary of each Cardinal and Special Mark Buoy deployed at the SOWF array, including target coordinates in WGS84 Degrees Decimal Minutes and a description of top mark and lantern characteristics. Offshore Converter Platform Commissioning Works - Sofia Offshore Windfarm



Mariners are advised that the Valaris 248 is positioned alongside the Offshore Converter Platform supporting the ongoing commissioning programme. The Service Operations Vessel (SOV) “Acta Gemini” is expected to commence operations week commencing 20th July 2026. The SOV 'Rem Energy' returns for a scheduled 3-week campaign at the Offshore Converter Platform, circa. 23rd July 2026


A scheduled service from an assigned pool of Platform Supply Vessels providing supplies to the Offshore Converter Platform & JUV until further notice.  Those nominated vessels are:

  • Bos Pool;
  • Bos Base;
  • Dina Merkur;
  • Dina Supporter;
  • Dina Supplier;
  • Dina Scout;
  • Highland Knight

An eight legged jacket with 8 driven pin piles has been installed as a foundation for the OCP followed by the OCP itself.

The Sofia Offshore Wind Farm Boundary Co-ordinates where the works will take place are provided below.  All non-project vessels are requested to remain outside this area.

Mariners are requested to remain where possible 500m from vessels. During these works, SOVs will have restricted manoeuvrability and shall also be exhibiting the correct day shapes/ lights and flag for vessels engaged in diving operations and restricted in ability to manoeuvre.

Emergency Response & Rescue Vessel

The EERV Glomar Baltic is supporting the commissioning phase of the Offshore Converter Platform, providing close standby cover as required during overside works.

Service Operation Vessels

The Service Operations Vessel (SOV) “Purus Power” & Daughter craft “Purus Transporter” continues to support the SOWF project throughout the construction of the offshore windfarm.

The 'SOVs' ACTA Centaurus and Austri Enabler continues operations within the Sofia Array.

Wind Turbine Generator Installation & Commissioning Works - Sofia Offshore Wind Farm



SGRE Vessels “IWS SeaWalker”, “FOB Swath 9” & “FOB Swath 10” continue with WTG commissioning activities within the Sofia array. The MJM Enteprise has commenced WTG Drone Inspection Campaign within the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. The Service Operations Vessel (SOV) “Acta Gemini” is expected to commence operations week commencing 20th July 2026.


A drone shall be launched / recovered from the main deck of the MJM Enterprise throughout this period and shall be within 500m of the asset that is being inspected. 

The exact finish date will be dependent on the prevailing weather conditions and work progress. Mariners are requested to remain where possible 500m from Construction vessels when exhibiting the day shapes / night lights for vessels restricted in their manoeuvrability.

Service Operation Vessels

The Service Operations Vessels (SOV) “Purus Power” & Daughter craft “Purus Transporter” continues to support to the SOWF project throughout the construction of the offshore windfarm.

Inter Array Cable Installation - East Anglia Three Offshore Wind Farm



Mariners are advised that cable?laying activities are being carried out by CLV Seaway Aimery within the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm, the vessel is laying inter?array cables between WTGs and the East Anglia THREE Offshore converter station (OFCS). Additional vessels Seaway Moxie and Windea Clausius will both deploy equipment and personnel to WTGS ad the OFCS via W2W gangway. The Grand Canyon 3 will carry out IAC trenching and burial operations within the EA3 windfarm boundary


Cable laying operations will continue to be conducted within the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm byCLV Seaway Aimery. The vessels will install subsea cables between WTGs and the Offshore ConverterStation (OFCS). The Grand Canyon III will conduct trenching and burial operations supporting the Cable-Laying operation. During cable deployment, trenching & burial both the vessels will be restricted in theirability to manoeuvre.The Seaway Aimery will carry out cable laying activities, and be supported by the Seaway Moxie & WindeaClausius, which will both undertake equipment and personnel transfers to WTGs and the OFCS via aWalk‑to‑Work (W2W) gangway system. While conducting these transfers, the Seaway Moxie & WindeaClausius will also be restricted in manoeuvrability.The Rix Lion will be the CTV support vessel working alongside the Windea Clausius providing 24hr supportcovering both cable installation and T&T works.

Geophysical Survey - Western Isle Cable Route



Geophysical and environmental survey using a towed array to be conducted at Arnish Point, off Stornoway Port.


Introduction:

Mariners are advised that a marine cable route survey is planned for the proposed Western Isles cable. The survey will involve geophysical and environmental surveying. SSEN Transmission will conduct marine surveys to gain information on seabed morphology, installation design, sediment structure and to gain benthic characterisation and habitat mapping. All the collected data provides the project with the best understanding on the marine environment to inform a Marine Environmental Assessment to be completed prior to cable installation. 

Marine Survey works will be carried out by Spectrum Geosurvey Limited and are planned to commence on the 6th of July and are expected to last for a duration of up to 2 weeks, depending on weather and operational progress.

Equipment that will be used as part of the works are: 

·         Multibeam Echosounder (vessel-mounted)

  • Sub Bottom Profiler (vessel-mounted)
  • Side Scan Sonar (towed)
  • Magnetometer (towed)
  • Submersible Camera (towed)
  • Grab Sampler (towed)

The area of work, pertaining to this Notice to Mariners (NtM) for Stornoway is highlighted in Figure 1 with the survey coordinates in Table 1. Survey vessels details and contact information are provided in Table 2 and 3 and further contact details for the project is detailed in Table 4.

 

Navigational Safety Advice:

Vessels are requiested to pass at a safe speed and distance and fishing vessels are advised to remain a safe distance, approximately 500m (0.3 nautical miles) from the areas identified. During these works the vessel will have restricted manouverability as it completes its work scope.

VHF CH. 16 will be monitored at all times and will be used to contact the coastguard in the event of an emergency.

Marine Works - Orkney HVAC Dounreay



Leask Marine on behalf of SSENT will be undertaking Marine Operations 0.31NM off-shore Dounreay as part of the Orkney HVAC Project. Further details are noted below and attached NTM.


As part of the Orkney HVAC Project Leask Marine on behalf of Scottish & Southern Electricty Networks Transmission (SSENT) will be undertaking the following marine operations; Commercial Diving, dredging and subsea lifting operations. The vessel MV C-Force will be deployed on a four-point mooring spread coordinates of which are detailed in the the attached NTM.

Vessels are requested to maintain a safe distance of 400 meters from the stated coordinates submitted.

Vessels involved will be keeping continuous listening watch on Channel 16 and 6 and will display appropriate lights and marks as required by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.

Mariners are requested to give the works a wide berth.

Acoustic Monitor Array Deployment - Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm



All mariners and stakeholders are advised that a Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) mooring array for the purpose of monitoring marine mammals’ detections has been serviced and redeployed along the east coast of Scotland, within 2 km of the coast, between St Andrews Bay and Inverbervie.


All mariners and stakeholders are advised that a Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) mooring array for the purpose of monitoring marine mammals’ detections is currently deployed along the east coast of Scotland, within 2 km of the coast, between St Andrews Bay and Inverbervie.

The PAM array will remain in situ for 2 years (i.e. up to August 2027) with a service interval every 3 months. The moorings will not be surface marked as the top of the mooring extends approximately 4-7m above the seabed. A servicing trip was completed on the 23 June to redeploy the moorings as shown in Table 1 and Figure 1 below.

A separate mooring assembly remains in place at St Andrews Bay with a temporary surface marker buoy. This was deemed as a dropped object in previous NTM, as the marker buoy could no longer be located. This has been now confirmed to remain in place, to be recovered in the following days.

UXO and Marine Archaeology Survey (Geophysical) - Eastern Green Link 4



Mariners are advised that UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) and Archaeology marine geophysical surveys are planned for the Eastern Green Link 4 (EGL 4) project. The marine survey activities for EGL 4 are planned to commence on the 1st July 2026 at the south of the route in English offshore waters near Lincolnshire, working northwards, and are expected to complete in August in English offshore waters at the English-Scottish border (before continuing into Scottish waters to Fife, shared in separate NtM).


The survey equipment will consist of: Multibeam echosounder, side-scan sonar, USBL (ultra-short baseline acoustic positioning system), magnetometer array, and eBOSS (KP45-55 only).

Scottish Power Transmission (SPT) and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) are working together to address the need for increased capacity within the transmission network between Scotland and England. EGL4 will help provide increased capacity, carrying up to 2 GW of electricity, enough for two million homes. This will be achieved through a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable connection between Fife and Lincolnshire.

The EGL 4 UXO marine survey works are being carried out by Gardline Ltd.

Surveys - LirIC Interconnector Project



Mariners are advised of forthcoming marine survey works associated with the LirIC Interconnector Project. TI LirIC Limited is undertaking this survey in relation to a proposed interconnector between Kilroot in Northern Ireland and Hunterston in Scotland.


The marine survey will be undertaken by GeoXYZ who are due to commence marine surveys on 24th May 2026. The scope of work comprises:

·        Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Investigation Surveys (Magnetometer); and

·        Geotechnical Cone Penetration Testing (CPTs) and Vibrocores.

The UXO works are investigative in nature and are being carried out for the identification of potential UXO targets only. No UXO detonation or disposal activities will be undertaken as part of this programme.

Geotechnical Survey North Sea Cable Route (UK Sector) - July 2026



Mariners are advised that the Glomar Vantage will be undertaking Geotechnical investigation activities on behalf of Woodstock Cable Limited in the UK North Sea sector from 8th July 2026. Survey routing is along a proposed cable route between Hunmanby Gap, UK and Henne Strand, Denmark (UK side only).


Activity:

In partnership with Atlantis Geoservices Ltd. XOCEAN is chartering the Glomar Vantage to conduct geotechnical seabed investigations along the UK section of the proposed Woodstock Cable Limited cable route corridor between Hunmanby Gap, UK and Henne Strand, Denmark. 

The geotechnical works will deploy equipment to test and sample the seabed at intervals across the UK sector of the route corridor. The vessel will be operational 24hrs a day.

Dates & Duration:

Survey operations are expected to commence from 8th July 2026 for approximately 2 weeks, subject to weather and other operational factors.

Location:

The provided coordinates indicate the survey routing along which the investigations will be conducted Operations will extend approximately +/-250m from this centreline. Note that all selected investigation locations are a minimum of 500m from seabed infrastructure and outside of related exclusion zones. 

In addition to the survey area, the vessel will transit from/to the ports of Great Yarmouth, Hull & Hartlepool as required for mobilisation/demobilisation and weather shelter.

Orkney HVAC Project Marine Surveys & Mattress Installation



As part of the Orkney HVAC Project - NEXANS on behalf of SSEN will be undertaking Geophysical Survey & Mattress installation works between Warbeth, Orkney and Dounreay, Caithness.


NEXANS on behalf of SSEN will be undertaking marine activities as part of the Orkney HVAC Project between Warbeth, Orkney and Dounreay, Caithness.

Works will include Operations of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) along the the corridor performing seabed data collection and mattress installation at two locations . 

Works  will take place during July 2026  from the vessel MV Viking Reach. The vessel will be operating with in a 200m wide corridor as per the coordinates below.

The vessel has limited maneuverability during operations. 

 The crew will be listening to channel 16.

SubSea Soundscape Project - Celtic Sea



17 x scientific seabed passive acoustic monitoring systems with sensor strings in the lower 5m of the water column have been redeployed across the UK Celtic Sea area following serving (4 x full systems from the original array could not be found). Units are fully subsurface with no surface markers. Mariners should exercise caution during operations and avoid trawling or seabed gear deployment near positions. Mariners are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity during active operations.


Servicing Operations

Operations will involve service vessels working at or near station positions for short durations during suitable weather windows.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity of these positions during active operations.

Some primary aims of the SubSea Soundscape project are;

To support a new Marine mammal evidence base for the Celtic Sea.

To create a region wide acoustic soundscape model and open-source baseline acoustic data of the Celtic Sea integrating new S3 data and other secured acoustic data sources.

To Co-develop road maps for the use of acoustic soundscape models for consenting.

Navigation Advice

Equipment is fully subsurface and presents no hazard to surface navigation.

Trawling, dredging, or seabed gear deployment in the vicinity of marked positions could be avoided to reduce risk of entanglement or equipment damage.

Total vertical height of unit: approx. 5 m above seabed.

Minimum clearance above highest point: 55 m in shallowest locations. 

Each acoustic monitoring system will comprise: 

• Acoustic release system

• Fish tag detection system (69 kHz)

• Broadband hydrophone and cetacean click-train logger

• Mooring frame with integrated components

Export Cable 2 Installation - Inch Cape Offshore Windfarm.



All mariners and stakeholders are advised that Inch Cape shall continue export cable 2 installation activities.


On behalf of Inch Cape Offshore Ltd, Enshore Subsea Ltd, shall continue export cable 2 installation operations. 

Export cable 2 sections 1,2 & 3 have been surface laid, coordinates shown below in the attached Notice to Mariners.

CMOS Installer has laid one rock bag at a cable crossing location and seven rock bags on the section 1 cable in the vicinity of the cable landfall at Cockenzie, East Lothian. The cable crossing rock bag has no surface mark, The rock bags at the landfall area are surface marked by red coloured A4 buoys, location and coordinates shownin the attached Notice to Mariners.

The CMOS Installer will return to the work site to commence cable burial on or around the 3rd of July. Burial operations will start in section 2 moving towards the offshore sub station platform, in the attached Notice to Mariners. Burial operations will continue until September. 

Surface laid cable shall be monitored by guard vessels as promulgated in the Inch Cape weekly notice of operations

Maintenance Work - Kincardine Offshore Windfarm



KOWL-MEM-0001-100 NtMrev2 Kincardine Maintenance REVISED 25.06.2026 Programme of maintenance work (est 4 weeks duration, excluding weather) at the Kincardine Field.


Further to the most recent NtM KOWL-MEM-0001-100rev1 previously issued on 18/06/2026, this second updated revision reflects most recent expected start date due to a delay in arrival of the Obana JUV at the Kincardine wind farm.

Please be advised that there will be a programme of maintenance work (estimated 4 weeks duration, excluding weather) at the Kincardine Field. The work will be inside the wind farm area and close to the floating assets. The scope of the operations is:

  • Main component exchange on four assets

The work is expected to start around 30 June 2026.

Petrodec Obana Jack Up Vessel (JUV) shall be on site, along with support tugs, which will be listening on channel 16 at all times. The JUV will locate close to each affected asset and use its main crane to carry out the exchanges.

The below temporary changes to the aids to navigation should be noted, only for the period of the works:

  • KIN01, KIN02, KIN04 and KIN05 fog signals will be disabled (KIN03 will remain active).
  • The KIN01, KIN02, KIN04 and KIN05 navigation lights will be shielded in turn, only for the period the JUV is located in close proximity, in order to avoid confusion between the individual platform and the JUV navigation lights (i.e. only one platform navigation lights will be shielded at any time).

An exclusion zone of 500m shall apply around the Obana and vessels are requested to avoid the wind farm area.

MachairWind ECC Benthic Survey



Please be advised that from the 8th July 2026 (earliest commencement date) Ocean Ecology Ltd (OEL) will be undertaking drop-down camera (DDC), seabed grab and water sampling surveys within the area shown in this notice.


The survey will employ the use of a DDC system for visual seabed assessments, 0.1m2 Dual Van Veen and Hamon grabs to obtain sediment samples of the seabed, as well as Niskin water sampling devices. The works will be completed by personnel from OEL on the vessel Roman Rebel. The survey operations do not involve towed survey equipment however at some locations the DDC will be slowly manoeuvred along transect lines at ~0.5 knots. During deployment of equipment the vessel will be under restricted manoeuvrability and require sufficient clearance for safe working. During periods of poor weather, the vessel may return to port or alternative safe haven for shelter.

OEL will have a project FLO onboard the Roman Rebel during all survey operations. For any specific enquiries required for the FLO please contact as per the attached notice.

Peterhead HDD Marine Assistance - Eastern Green Link 2



Prysmian will be conducted marine works on behalf of the Eastern Green Link 2 subsea cable project. The described activities include nearshore support work for the installation of two new ducts through Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).


These HDD operations will involve installing break-out (punch-out) ducts within Sandford Bay. There will be dive works conducted in support of this effort. There will be a dive support vessel and crew transfer vessel supporting these works. Work vessels will be restricted in their maneuoverability at times. There will be divers in the water at times. The work vessels will display appropriate shapes and lights prescribed by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at SeaFor these reasons. Crew transfer will occur nominally between the hours of 0700 and 1900 hours. All vessels transiting the area are requested to provide a minimum clearance of 500m from the vessel C-Horizon during marine operations and pass at a safe speed. VHF Channel 16 will be monitored at all times and Security Messages will be issued on this channel. These vessels will also be transmitting on the Automatic Transmission Identification System (AIS).

Jack Up Barge JB 120 - East Anglia 3 Offshore Substation



Mariners are advised that circa between 02/12/2025 and 06/12/2025, the Jack-up Barge (JUB) ‘JB 120’ will commence jacking up next to the East Anglia THREE Offshore Converter Station (OFCS) within the East Anglia THREE Windfarm array.


The jack-up vessel ‘JB 120’ will be positioned next to the East Anglia THREE OFCS within the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm area.

  • Rig move: The vessel will be maneuvered to its designated location.
  • Jacking-Up Procedure: The vessel will be temporarily soft jacked on a safe stand-off position, from where its four anchors and mooring lines will be deployed. The deployed mooring lines will be used to move the vessel safely towards the final position, where the vessel will be jacked.
  • Operational Phase: Once jacked up, the vessel will remain stationary for an estimated six months.

During operations, the ‘JB 120’, ‘CENTAURUS’ (Lead tug), ‘FAIRPLAY 62’ (Assistant tug) and ‘FAIRPLAY 32’ (Assistant tug) will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre as defined under COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972) and will display the appropriate day shapes and lights. The vessels will also transmit an Automatic Identification System (AIS) message.

A Statutory Safety zone of 500m radius will be in place around the ‘JB 120’ at all times.

‘JB 120’ and supporting tugs are supplied with VHF multi-channel radios and mobile phones.

Mariners are advised that a UXO and Archaeology marine geophysical survey is planned for the Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL 3) project. The marine survey activities for EGL 3 are planned to commence on the 22nd June 2026 in English waters and are expected to complete around the end of August 2026.


The survey equipment will consist of MBES, SSS, USBL, Mag, ROTV and UXO surrogate which will be placed on the seabed a maximum of three times in the nearshore area for equipment verification tests.  

SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) are working together to address the need for increased capacity within the transmission network between Scotland and England. EGL3 will help provide increased capacity, carrying up to 2 GW of electricity, enough for two million homes.

This will be achieved through a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable connection between Aberdeenshire and Lincolnshire. 

The EGL 3 UXO marine survey works are being carried out by GeoXYZ Limited.

UXOControl B.V. will be carrying out UXO Identification operations within the Vanguard East Export Cable Route location detailed below using the Multi Purpose Offshore Support Vessel 4Winds c/w a Work Class ROV System. Please be advised that from 17th June 2026, Ocean Ecology Ltd (OEL) will be undertaking fishing surveys along with seabed grab and water sampling surveys within the areas shown in this notice (Beatrice, Moray East, Hywind and Kincardine Offshore Windfarms, plus nearby control areas).


The survey will employ the use of various fishing methods (fish traps, jigging, creels, and potential sole nets and otter trawling), a 0.1m2 Day grab to obtain sediment samples of the seabed, as well as Niskin water sampling devices and plankton netting. The works will be completed by personnel from OEL on the vessel Solstice BF56. During deployment of equipment the vessel will be under restricted manoeuvrability and require sufficient clearance for safe working. During periods of poor weather, the vessel may return to port or alternative safe haven for shelter.

UPDATED 18/06/2026 Mariners are advised that North Falls Offshore Wind Farm (NFOWF) will undertake a metocean survey within the Wind Turbine Array Area


Mariners are advised that North Falls Offshore Wind Farm (NFOWF) will undertake a metocean survey within the Wind Turbine Array Area, at the Primary and Secondary locations shown in Table 1 and Figure 2.

The metocean equipment was deployed on 17 April 2026, with the metocean survey lasting between 12 and 18 months. The planned survey end date will be no later than 16 August 2027. 

The metocean survey work is being undertaken by Partrac, who will use the vessel Green Isle to recover, service and re-deploy the metocean equipment at the Primary and Secondary locations shown in Table 1 and Figure 2.  It is expected that the recovery, servicing and re-deployment operations will last for approximately three days, commencing on or after 22 June 2026.  

The metocean equipment consists of one seabed frame deployed at each location (i.e., a total of two seabed frames). Each seabed frame will be equipped with an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) and additional sensors (temperature sensor, water-level sensor, and turbidity sensor). Each seabed frame will be connected to a clump weight, with approximately 100 m leaded polypropylene ground line between the seabed frame and clump weight.

As a consequence of equipment being serviced, all mariners are advised to keep a safe clearance distance of no less than 500 m from the service vessel and metocean equipment deployment locations. No towed survey equipment will be deployed from the vessel.

IAC Installation - Dogger Bank C Offshore Wind Farm



The Cable Lay Vessel (CLV) VIKING NEPTUN will perform the remaining inter-array cable installation works at Dogger Bank C with the assistance of the Service Operations Vessel (SOV) WIND EVOLUTION for the deployment of cable pull-in teams.


All works will be carried out continuously, 24 hours a day. Charts of the DBC array area are provided in the attached document. Works are scheduled to commence on or around 21 June 2026, starting with foundation preparations by the Wind Evolution. The Viking Neptun is then scheduled to enter the field around 29 June 2026 to start cable lay operations.

The cable lay vessel will deploy the inter array cable onto the seabed through her dedicated deck spread. The cable will remain exposed on the seabed till trenching is performed.

During operations, the VIKING NEPTUN and WIND EVOLUTION will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre as defined under COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972) and will display the appropriate day shapes and lights. The vessel will also transmit an Automatic Identification System (AIS) message.

Geophysical Survey - Dogger Bank Windfarm and Export Cable



On behalf of Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm, XOCEAN will be carrying out an MBES geophysical survey within Dogger Bank A, Dogger Bank B and Dogger Bank C array area and in addition Export Cable Routes from landfall to DBA and DBB sites using remotely piloted Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs).


The USVs will be mobilised from Scarborough where each USV will be escorted out of the harbour limits, before transiting to the survey area. Survey Operations will be continuous 24hrs a day. Although vessels are uncrewed, they are managed remotely continuously using 360-degree cameras and other sensors.

The works will commence on the 21/05/2026, continuing until 31/07/2026 when all locations have been surveyed. The works will be continuous, 24 hours a day. A chart of the DBA, DBB and DBC Array Area including bounding coordinates is provided below. Mariners are advised that Seaway 7 will undertake Rock Bag Installation operations along the Inter Array Cable Route within the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm area set out in section 2.1 of this document, utilising the vessel ‘Ocean Marlin’.


Activity Description:

Program Schedule:The Ocean Marlin is expected to mobilise from the port of Lowestoft circa 27th June 2026 with an estimated completion date of 30th July 2026, weather permitting.

Completion of the works will be notified through the cancellation of this Notice to Mariners. Weekly updates on vessel movements will be issued via the EA3 Weekly Notice of Operations.

Ocean Marlin will monitor VHF Channel 16 and VHF DSC Channel 70 continuously throughout the operations. It is currently anticipated that weather permitting, works will be carried out on a continuous basis (i.e.,24- hour working, seven days a week) unless notified otherwise

Wind Turbine Generator Installation Campaign- Sand Wave Levelling



Mariners are advised that Ievoli Relume will commence sand levelling operations within the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm area circa the 22/06/2026. Marine operations will be conducted by OEG Subsea Limited. The main working area will be inside the CDM Zone of the wind farm array as detailed in section 2.1. The position of each installation location is identified in section 2.2 of the attached EA3 NTM 022-2026 - Wind Turbine Generator Installation Campaign- Sand Wave Levelling


Ievoli Relume will perform sand wave levelling operations at locations E10, E11, and E21. The scope covers levelling of specific areas in preparation for subsequent jack‑up operations. These locations are further detailed in Section 2.2. of the  EA3 NTM 022-2026 - Wind Turbine Generator Installation Campaign- Sand Wave Levelling

Weather permitting, offshore works will be carried out on a continuous basis (i.e. 24-hour working, seven days a week). During operations, the Ievoli Relume will have restricted manoeuvrability as defined under COLREGS (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions At Sea, 1972). They will display the appropriate day shapes and lights and will transmit an Automatic Identification System (AIS) message.

 

The Ievoli Relume will mobilise from the port of Great Yarmouth, with first activity expected on 22/06/2026.Weekly updates of WTG Levelling Campaign will be notified via EA3 weekly notice of operations. WTG Levelling Campaign is expected to be completed on 08/07/2026, completion of operations will be notified via closure of this notice to mariners.

Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USV) Survey Operations - UK/DK North Sea Sectors



Operation of remotely piloted Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) are planned in the UK and Danish North Sea sectors, from mid-May 2026. The vessels will be engaged in survey activities between Hunmanby Gap, UK and Henne Strand, Denmark on behalf of Woodstock Cable Limited.


Activity:

Operation of remotely piloted Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) are planned in the UK and Danish North Sea sectors, from mid-May 2026. The vessels will be engaged in survey activities between Hunmanby Gap, UK and Henne Strand, Denmark on behalf of Woodstock Cable Limited.

Dates & Duration:

Survey operations are expected to commence from 13th May 2026 for approximately 4 months, subject to weather and other operational factors.

 Location:

The survey area comprises an approximate 300m wide survey corridor between Hunmanby Gap, UK and Henne Strand, Denmark. The USV is expected to be operating within +/- 150m of the centreline route. In addition to the survey area, the USVs will transit from/to the ports of Scarborough, UK, Esbjerg, Denmark & Hvide Sande, Denmark.

Vessels:

It is expected there will be up to six USV operational at any one time. Vessels will be a combination of XOCEAN’s XO-450 & XO-580 class USV’s. 

Mode of Operation:

Although the USV are uncrewed, they are managed throughout the 24 hour operation, piloted remotely using 360 degree cameras and other navigational aids. The USV sends real time images and situational awareness data over satellite to a team of operators keeping watch and controlling the vessel remotely 24/7. A support vessel will escort the USV from the active ports to clear water. Seafarers are asked to avoid contact with the vessel and be aware of the operational area during this period. 

Safety Precautions: The USV is equipped with the following to make it conspicuous to other marine traffic:

Construction of Wind Farm - Triton Knoll



Activities related to the development of the Triton Knoll wind farm continue, as detailed below. For background information visit: http://www.tritonknoll.co.uk. Mariners are advised that the Northern Wind will be conducting a full site survey using high resolution MBES (inc Backscatter). The Cardinal P will be conducting a full site internal survey with the use of ROV. A 500m clearance to the vessel and all fixed structure locations whilst working in the area is required.

Application of Triton Knoll Wind Farm Safety Zones During Construction

The Secretary of State has granted the Application of Safety Zones on the Triton Knoll Wind Farm Project as follows:

  • 500m “rolling” safety zones around any structure where construction is being undertaken (as indicated by the presence of construction vessels).
  • 50m pre-commissioning safety zones surrounding partial structures or completed structures prior to commissioning.

Mariners are advised that all foundations monopiles have been installed and all inter-array and export cables have been installed.

Navigation Warning - 08th January 2021

Mariners are advised that the remnants of a Wave Rider Buoy sinker weight and partial rigging are located within the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Construction site at the following location;

53° 30.442N 000° 50.564E

It is advised that the partial rigging could potentially be floating up to 9.7m above the seabed, reducing the navigable safe water in the immediate area to 10m LAT.  Mariners are advised to avoid the indicated position by 250 metres.

Possible Dangers to Navigation - Properties of the polypropylene show that the rope is buoyant, this makes the line sensitive for thruster currents. Taking the site water depth into consideration (19.7m LAT) and the maximum expected height above seabed of the rope 9.7m the line is expected to be floating submerged at approximately -10m LAT. In addition, it is noted that over time sediments will be trapped between the fibres and the heavier rope may finally sink. The polypropylene rope may impose a risk to foul propellers / propulsion of vessels due to the buoyant nature of the rope. As the rope is submerged at a depth of ~-10m LAT the risk is considered minimum for vessels with a shallow draught (<5m) and medium for a vessel with a deeper draught (>5m). Over time sediments will be trapped between the fibres and the heavier rope may finally sink thereby reducing the risk to propellers/propulsion of vessels. The clump weight itself (chain) is expected to have sunk into the seabed and has no significant height above seabed. In addition, the edges of the clump weight are mostly rounded (chain), the risk the clump weigh imposes to fishing activities/gear is therefore considered to be minimal.

Navigation Warning - 16th March 2021

Mariners are advised that two UXO targets have been confirmed within the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Array.

Mariners are advised that the two confirmed targets are located within 20 metres water depth (LAT) and a 10 metre radius exclusion zone is required around each target.  The following table provides the coordinates and a description for each target.

Post-lay burial protection operations are still ongoing. Cable protection activities through mattress installation and remedial burial will continue to take place using the C-installer and Genesis until July 30th. These dates are subject to change due to weather or operational requirements.

Subsea Rock Installation - East Anglia 3 Export Cable Route



Please be advised that the Dynamically Positioned Fall Pipe Vessel (DPFPV) Yellowstone is expected to mobilise from the port Stavanger on the 15/06/2026 NKT will conduct Seabed Rock Installation (SRI) along the East Anglia THREE Export Cable Route in the North Sea using the DPFPV Yellowstone. In/out surveys will be performed prior to and following rock placement. Operations will be conducted continuously, 24 hours a day. The work will be performed in a single campaign.


It is requested that all vessels maintain a minimum of 1500m separation distance from Yellowstone and pass at reduced speed. Fishing gear or other equipment with seabed intervention should not be deployed when approaching the working corridor.

Yellowstone is expected to mobilise from the port of Stavanger on the 15/06/2026.Completion of the works will be notified through the cancellation of this Notice to Mariners. Weekly updates on vessel movements will be issued via the EA3 Weekly Notice of Operations.During SRI operations, the Yellowstone will have restricted manoeuvrability as defined under COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972). Geotechnical Campaign - Berwick Bank Wind Farm



Mariners are advised that SSE Renewables will be returning to Berwick Bank Wind Farm area to continue geotechnical survey work. The survey will be within the Berwick Bank Wind Farm site boundary.


UPDATE – Due to changes in vessel availability, the Fugro Zephyr will now remain on site until 19 June 2026. The Fugro Quest will arrive on 03 June 2026 at the earliest and continue operations until the survey scope is complete, alongside the Fugro Zenith. 

The guard vessels on site will now be the Ocean Trust and Reaper, which are planned to alternate for the remainder of the survey campaign. 

Please refer to the updated vessel information within the attached Notice To Mariners for further details. There are no changes to the survey scope.

It should be noted that SSE Renewables are not expecting fishers to relocate gear - on this occasion the vessels will aim to work around any gear on location. A scouting/guard vessel will also be contracted to operate ahead of the survey vessels to ensure that this can be achieved. There will be no towed gear as part of this survey. 

The Zenith and Quest (operated by Fugro) will commence operations on 6th April and 25th April, respectively, for a duration of 207 survey days. To account for weather delays and other eventualities, we would like to extend the validity of this notice until 30 November 2026.

This work is due to commence on 5th June 2026 running until 2nd September 2026, within the Rampion OWF Area, depending on weather conditions.  

Technicians will be carrying out repair works via external rope access which pose a material risk of snagging on passing vessels if sufficient distance to the turbines is not adhered to. 

For the safety of the working party and anyone in the vicinity of the works, mariners are requested to be vigilant when approaching any WTG and steer well clear (>100m preferable) of any location where work is being carried out.

Exposed Export Cable - Vattenfall Offshore Wind Farm



During a routine inspection of the export cables (ECR A & ECR B) , two sections of the cables were found to be partially exposed through the boulder field. This may constitute a hazard to activities such as fishing and anchoring


It is requested that mariners avoid activities which are likely to disturb the seabed within a 500m Radius of this location until the exposed export cable has been re-investigated. A further Notice to Mariners will be issued to confirm the course of action we will be taking to rectify this. Please note that the standard safety rules apply when fishing in or near wind farms and associated cables. All mariners are requested to make themselves aware of their obligations for conducting activities over buried and protected cables under International and UK Cable (Sub-sea) Protection Legislation. 

Mariners are reminded to navigate with caution and keep continued watch on VHF Ch. 12 / 16 when navigating the area. The Marine Coordination Centre will be responsible for monitoring and policing the Safety Zone and can be contacted directly for advice. A survey has identified potential cable exposures at several locations beyond the commonplace exposures (within the 50m radius around wind turbine and offshore substation foundations). The position and extent of the cable exposures shown in the below chart is limited to the burial status observed at the time of the survey.  Cable burial status evolves over time, often rapidly. Mariners should not assume otherwise.  Cable burial status is monitored periodically, and further information will be provided following future survey campaigns. Bos Prelude (OFCS Platform Supply Vessel) - East Anglia THREE



Please be advised that the platform supply vessel ‘BOS PRELUDE’ is expected to mobilise from the port of Emden circa the 02/11/2025. Earliest arrival at East Anglia THREE site circa the 04/11/2025.


The platform supply vessel ‘BOS PRELUDE’ provides supply service during the commissioning phase of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Converter station (OFCS) ‘EA3 OFCS’.

‘BOS PRELUDE’ will deliver supplies to the ‘EA3 OFCS’ and the jack-up vessel ‘JB 120’ (as long as installed next to the OFCS) as well as carry out regular voyages between East Anglia THREE Windfarm and the ports of Emden (Germany, main service port) and Lowestoft (UK) and is equipped with VHF multi-channel radios and mobile phones.

Notification of Guard Vessel - East Anglia Three Offshore Windfarm



Mariners are hereby advised that circa the 01/03/2025 the guard vessel Tess will commence guard duty operations at the East Anglia Three Offshore Windfarm area set out in section 2 of the attached Notice to Mariners.


The guard vessel ‘Tess’ will monitor vessel traffic in and around the East Anglia Three Offshore Windfarm 24hours a day, 7 days a week. The vessel will broadcast regular navigational warnings and will contact any non-project vessels they believe could cause potential hazards, risk of collision, or cause an interruption to project vessels or assets. She will be monitoring VHF Channel 16 and VHF DSC Channel 70 continuously throughout the operaton.

Esvagt Carpathia (OFCS ERRV) - East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Array



Mariners are advised that Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) ‘ESVAGT Carpathia’ is expected to mobilise from the port of Lowestoft. All vessels are requested to keep a 500m safety distance from the ‘ Esvagt Carpathia’ whilst carrying out operations within the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Array.


The ERRV ‘ESVAGT CARPATHIA’ provides relief duties for standby emergency rescue services during thecommissioning phase of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Converter station (OFCS) ‘EA3 OFCS’. The ESVAGT CARPATHIA will be required to cover these duties when the primary Emergency Response Rescue Vessel 'ESVAGT CARTPATHIA' conducts port calls for crew changes and resupplies.

Mariners are advised that Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) ‘ESVAGT COBRA’ is expected to mobilise from the port of Lowestoft circa the 03/11/2025.


The ERRV ‘ESVAGT COBRA’ provides standby emergency rescue services during the commissioning phase of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Converter station (OFCS) ‘EA3 OFCS’.  

 ‘ESVAGT COBRA’ will carry out regular transits between East Anglia THREE Windfarm and the port of Lowestoft and is equipped with VHF multi-channel radios and mobile phones.

Aids To Navigation Demarcation Buoys - East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm



Mariners are advised that the Trinity House buoy Installation Vessel ‘Patricia’ has relocated four navigational buoys marking the boundary of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm.


THV Patricia has relocated the EA3 East 1 Buoy, EA3 East 2 Buoy, EA3 East Buoy 3 and the EA3 Special 3 Buoy marking the boundary of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Array.

 

The demarcation buoys will remain on station throughout construction of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm.

Commencement of Construction of East Anglia Three Offshore Windfarm



Please be advised from circa 1st November 2024 East Anglia Three Offshore Windfarm construction works will commence, subsea boulder and debris clearance operations will be the first construction activity as per the attached NTM document. Followed by Scour protection Installation circa 05th November 2024 as per NTM 050 in attachment.


East Anglia THREE will be a large offshore wind farm, located 69 km off the Norfolk coast. With a projected capacity of approximately 1400MW, the wind farm shall supply electricity to approximately one million UK homes. Onshore construction for the project started in July 2022. 

 

By use of multiple specialized offshore vessels,1 Offshore Convertor station (OFCS) & 95 offshore wind turbine generators (WTGs) will be installed within the East Anglia Three site boundary along with the associated inter array and export cables. The generated power will be transmitted via an installed External Cable (EC) from the OFCS to a shore side substation located in Bramford.

Hazard Notice Dangerous Objects – Unexploded Ordnances Identified - Eastern Greenlink 2



Following the EGL2 offshore UXO TI Campaign along the EGL2 survey corridor, SHET and NGET are advising Mariners of wet storage of unexploded ordnance (UXO). The UXOs were identified as part of this ROV survey campaign.


Mariners are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity of the identified locations and to avoid anchoring directly over the affected area. Additionally, mariners are advised to maintain a safe distance from the vessel, Glomar Wave, while it is conducting UXO target investigations. A 500m Exclusion Zone around the UXO position has been enacted. Mariners are advised to observe this measure to ensure safe navigation and to avoid any potential hazards.

Accidental Deposit of an Object at Sea - Transponder Beacon



Transponder Beacon unable to be recovered from deployed location - risk of snagging, alert to all marine users.


The CNODE Maxi Acoustic Transponder Beacon was initally left in-situ on the 13/05/2026 with the intention to recover it. A recovery attempt was made on 18/05/2026 however, only the floater device surfaced. The beacon remains on/near the seabed.

Initial dropped object form submitted to all necessary parties on 13/05/2026 and updated form sent on 18/05/2026 following unsuccessful recovery.

Beacon dimensions:

  • Length = 880mm
  • Diameter = 150-160mm
  • Weight (in air) = 35.5kg

Geophysical Survey - Awel y Môr Offshore Wind Farm



Ramform Vanguard will be carrying out geophysical survey works at Awel y Môr Offshore Wind Farm from 25th May until 25th July 2026. These dates are subject to weather and sea conditions.


Mariners are requested to observe a safe working distance of 1000m when the Ramform Vanguard is performing towed survey activities at Awel y Môr Offshore Wind Farm. It is also requested that mariners observe a distance of at least 500m when Ramform Vanguard is manoeuvring into position for the safety of all sea users operating within the wind farm, and to ensure Ramform Vanguard can safely position itself without negative interactions with sea users or their equipment. The towed equipment extends approximately 350m behind the stern.

Dogger Bank A and DBB Boundary Buoy As-Installed Locations



This notice describes the current Dogger Bank A and B boundary demarcation buoys in the Southern North Sea


A total of 32 construction boundary demarcation buoys will remain in location until the windfarm construction activities have been completed and handed over to the Operations and Maintenance teams.

Once the permanent Aids to Navigation (AtoN) have been installed on the WTGs, Trinity House will approve the permanent AtoN and the boundary buoys will be removed.

If anyone finds a buoy that is off station or encounters a buoy location where it is not functioning or is missing, they should report this to the Dogger Bank Duty Marine Coordinator as soon as possible.

Cable Route Metocean Instrumentation Deployment - Morven Wind Farm



This Notice to Mariners (NtM) is to confirm that the metocean monitoring campaign (and as described in Morven_NtM 007_v02 Cable Route_ Metocean Intrumentation_ Deployment) planned to commence in February 2025 was cancelled and no equipment has been deployed.


The metocean instrumentation was intended to be deployed at 4 locations along the proposed Morven wind farm export cable route. The now cancelled deployment locations are shown in Section 2 with charts included in Section 3.  Equipment associated with this survey included seabed frames, metocean instrumentation, ground lines and secondary anchor weights. 

The superceded NtM (Morven_NtM 007_v02 Cable Route_ Metocean Intrumentation_ Deployment) has been attached to this notice for reference alongside the updated NtM (Morven_NtM 007_v03 Cable Route_ Metocean Instrumentation_ Deployment).

Grampian Eagle Platform Supply Vessel - East Anglia Three



Please be advised that the Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) ‘GRAMPIAN EAGLE’ is expected to mobilise from the port of Lowestoft circa 19/04/2026. Earliest arrival at East Anglia THREE site circa 20/04/2026.


The CSOV ‘GRAMPIAN EAGLE’ will provide accommodation and Walk-to-Work access during the commissioning phase of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Converter station (OFCS).  

‘GRAMPIAN EAGLE’ will perform crew transfers and deliver supplies to the East Anglia THREE Offshore Converter station (OFCS)  and the jack-up vessel ‘JB 120’ (as long as installed next to the OFCS). 

‘GRAMPIAN EAGLE’ will make regular transits between the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm and the port of Lowestoft (UK). The vessel is equipped with VHF multi-channel radios and mobile phones. 

It is currently anticipated that weather permitting, operations will be carried out on a continuous basis (i.e. weekly, bi-weekly, on request) for the duration of circa 2.5 months. Crew change will be carried out every 14 days either by helicopter, CTV or port call. 

Completion of works will be notified by closure of this notice to mariners, weekly updates of vessel movements will be notified via EA3 Weekly Notice Of Operations.

Marine Mammal Monitoring-Passive Acoustic Monitoring Stations - East Anglia Three Offshore Windfarm



Please be advised that Seiche Limited have performed a service on the Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Stations that have been deployed on the seabed, in and at locations around the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Area. Two PAM stations have been re-deployed with surface buoys


A service has been completed on the Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Stations that have been deployed on the seabed, in and at locations around the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Area.  A total of eleven PAM stations have been re-deployed, two of which are marked by surface buoys. 

The PAM stations will remain on the seabed until approximately 31/10/2027, 9 deployed PAM stations have a 12 m height above the seabed, a weight of 600 kg and their location is not marked by a surface buoy. Two deployed PAM stations are marked by surface buoys, each anchored to the seabed by two 2 tonne anchor mooring weights.

 

The PAM stations will be serviced periodically with information distributed via future Notice to Mariners. There is an exclusion zone of 250m around each PAM Station, Marine traffic is advised to maintain the safety zone and navigate with caution at all times.

Wind Turbine Generator Commissioning Campaign - East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm



Mariners are advised that the Commissioning “Walk to Work” (W2W) Vessel IWS Windwalker and supporting Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) Fob Swath 6 and Fob Swath 7 will commence Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) commissioning operations within the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm area circa the 18/03/2026. Operations will be conducted by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE). The main working area will be as detailed in Attached EAT NTM 008-2026 Wind Turbine Generator Commissioning Campaign.


IWS Windwalker and supporting CTVs will commission 95 WTGs at the locations set out in section 2.2 ofEAT NTM 008-2026 Wind Turbine Generator Commissioning Campaign.Installed WTGs shall be marked with the following aids to navigation:LightsFl Y 2.5s light (visible through 360°)Minimum 2 nm range

 

Partially constructed monopiles shall be marked with the following aids to navigation where a transition piecehas not been installed:

Foundation Transition Piece Installation - Inch Cape site boundary



All mariners and stakeholders are advised that WTG foundation transition piece installation activities shall commence within the Inch Cape site boundary.


On behalf of Inch Cape Offshore Ltd, Seaway 7 shall commence the installation of 54 WTG foundation transition piece components.

 

The transition pieces will be transported from the Port of Leith to the Inch Cape site and installed by the heavy lift vessel Seaway Alfa Lift.

 

Alfa Lift is expected to arrive at the Inch Cape site on or around the 17th of March to commence installation which will continue for several months, further details are in the attached notice to mariners.

Mariners are advised that the Jack Up Vessels Wind Osprey and Wind Pace will commence Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) installation operations within the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm area. Marine operations will be conducted by Cadeler A/S and construction operations by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE). The main working area will be inside the CDM Zone of the wind farm array.


Wind Osprey and Wind Pace will install 95 WTGs

Installed WTGs shall be marked with the following aids to navigation:

  • Fl Y 2.5s light (visible through 360°)
  •  Minimum 2 nm range

Partially constructed monopiles shall be marked with the following aids to navigation where a transition piece has not been installed:

Dangerous Object - Exposed Steel Wire Rope - Eastern Green Link 2 (73071)



Following EGL2 Nearshore UXO TI Campaign along the EGL2 survey corridor, SHET and NGET are advising Mariners of wet storage of a cut length of steel wire rope (SWR) protruding the seabed in the positions listed below. The remainder of the wire is buried beneath the seabed. The wire does not constitute a hazard to general navigation; however, it may present a risk to small vessels when anchoring.


  • The steel wire rope sections are assumed to be remnants of discarded trawl wire or anchor cable and are now partially exposed above seabed level.
  • The wire does not pose a hazard to general navigation.
  • However, it may present a risk to small vessels when anchoring or operating gear near the seabed.
  • A substantial amount of wire remains buried beyond each of the location ends detailed below.

Dogger Bank B WTG Installation



The Jack-up WTG Installation Vessel, Voltaire, will install wind turbine generators (WTG) within the Dogger Bank B construction area.


The works will commence around the 21st of February 2026 continuing until approximately Q2 2027.  The works will be continuous, 24 hours a day.  A chart of the DBB construction area boundary coordinates and a table of WTG location coordinates is provided below. A running list of the completed WTG installations and the next locations to be installed is presented in the Weekly Notice of Operations.

During operations, the Voltaire will be restricted in its ability to manoeuvre as defined under COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972) and will display the appropriate day shapes and lights. The vessel will also transmit an Automatic Identification System (AIS) message. 

During operations, a Statutory Safety zone of 500m radius will be in place around the Voltaire during the installation of WTGs

Wave Rider Buoy - East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm



Mariners are advised that Seaway 7 have deployed a Wave Rider Buoy within the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Area


Seaway 7 deployed a Wave Rider Buoy on the 01/05/2025 within the boundary of the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm Array during the Monopile Noise monitoring campaign as referenced in EA3 NTM 026 - 2025 Monopile Installation (Noise Monitoring Buoy Deployment). The Wave rider Buoy will remain on station until the end of the project.

The Wave Rider Buoy is equipped with a flashing yellow light and has a range of four nautical miles.

Recovery and/or periodic maintenance of the Wave Rider Buoy will be notified via future Notice to Mariners

Please be advised that Partrac Ltd have completed maintenance on the Northern weather monitoring buoy, installed within the East Anglia Three Offshore Wind Farm Area.


Positions for both North & South weather buoys are identified in the attached Notice To Mariners 005 -2025. There will be periodic maintenance for both weather buoys during construction of EA3.

 

There is an exclusion zone of 100m around the weather buoys, mariners are  advised to abide by the 100m safety zone and navigate with caution at all times.

After each TP has been installed by the Jack-up Vessel (JUV), Seaway Ventus, Contractor shall perform the TP Completions Scope with the Norside Supporter (CSV), with a delayed start from Seaway Ventus. Mariners are advised that North Falls Offshore Wind Farm (NFOWF) will undertake a metocean survey within the Wind Turbine Array Area


OverviewMariners are advised that North Falls Offshore Wind Farm (NFOWF) will undertake a metocean survey within the Wind Turbine Array Area, at the Primary and Secondary locations shown in Table 1 and Figure 2.

Survey Duration Mobilisation will commence on or after 18 February 2026, with the metocean survey lasting between 12 and 18months. The planned survey end date will be no later than 16 August 2027.

Survey Tasks The metocean survey work is being undertaken by Partrac, who will use the vessel CT Vector to deploy the metocean equipment at the Primary and Secondary locations shown in Table 1 and Figure 2. It is expected that the deployment operation will last for one day.

The metocean equipment will consist of one seabed frame deployed at each location (i.e., a total of two seabed frames). Each seabed frame will be equipped with an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) and additional sensors (temperature sensor, water-level sensor, and turbidity sensor). Each seabed frame will be connected to a clump weight, with approximately 100 m leaded polypropylene ground line between the seabed frame and clump weight.

As a consequence of equipment being deployed, all mariners are advised to keep a safe clearance distance of no less than 500 m from the deployment vessel and metocean equipment deployment locations. No towed survey equipment will be deployed from the vessel.

Dogger Bank C Maintenance and Asset Preservation



The Service Operational Vessel, IWS Sun Walker, will carry out Balance of Plant (BoP) and Asset Preservation operations within Dogger Bank C construction site.


The works will be performed in a single campaign, commencing on the 7th of December 2025 and continuing until approximately Q4 2026. The works will be continuous, 24 hours a day. The operations will include visual inspections and remedial maintenance at the Offshore Substation Platform (OSP) and at installed WTG foundation locations. During operations, the IWS Sun Walker will be restricted in its ability to manoeuvre as defined under COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972) and will display the appropriate day shapes and lights. The vessel will also transmit an Automatic Identification System (AIS) message. It is requested that all vessels maintain a minimum of 500m separation distance from the SOV and pass at reduced speed. Fishing gear or other equipment with seabed intervention should not be deployed when approaching the working area.
